Salt & Chemical Delivery

Are you tired of having to haul and dump 50lb bags of salt every month by yourself? Here at Fehl Safe, we provide you with a monthly service to take your hassle away. Salt deliveries also give us a chance to check out your equipment to make sure everything is working properly.

Fehl Safe Plumbing, Septic & Water Systems delivers and refills softener salt every month, plus chlorine for well chlorination systems.

Are you tired of having to replenish your Florida home’s water softening system with salt and chemical? If you live on Florida’s central Gulf Coast, let Fehl Safe Plumbing, Septic & Water Systems take care of it for you worry free.

No more hauling 50-pound bags. No more harsh chemicals stored in your garage. Every month, a Fehl Safe technician fills your softener and chlorinator and checks that the whole system is working.

A water softener only softens while it has salt, and a chlorinator only disinfects while it has chlorine. Run out of either and the system quietly stops doing its job. Fehl Safe Plumbing, Septic & Water Systems delivers and refills softener salt and chlorine on a monthly schedule for homes and businesses from North Charlotte County to South Hillsborough County, inland through Hardee and DeSoto. Family-owned since 1994.

When the brine tank runs dry, hard water goes straight through to your pipes, fixtures, and water heater. Most people don’t notice until the spots and scale come back. And a tank that looks full can be sitting on a salt bridge with nothing underneath.

Why Salt Delivery Keeps Your Softener Working

Salt delivery helps your softener stay ready, so hard water does not sneak back into your home. A softener removes hard minerals like calcium and magnesium using a resin tank.

That resin must recharge on a schedule, and salt is what makes the recharge cycle work. If the tank runs out of salt, the softener may stop removing hardness, and you will start getting hard water again.

Most people only notice low salt after spots and scale return. Regular delivery helps prevent gaps by keeping the brine tank topped off before it gets too low. It also saves you from hauling heavy bags, making store runs, and dealing with salt dust.

When To Refill Salt And How To Spot Problems Early

A quick check once a month can help you avoid hard water damage and expensive repairs. Look inside the brine tank about once a month. If the salt is low or you see mostly water with only a little salt left, it is time to refill. Try not to let it run empty.

Spots on Dishes and Glassware

If your plates and cups start drying with white spots again, your softener may not be recharging well or the salt level may be too low.

Soap Scum and Dull Showers

A hazy shower door, sticky soap scum, or a tub that is harder to rinse clean can be an early sign that hard water is coming back.

Itchy Skin, Flat Hair, and Stiff Laundry

Hard water can leave skin feeling dry and laundry feeling rough. If these changes show up fast, check the salt level and the system settings.

Salt Bridging or Mushing in the Tank

Sometimes salt forms a hard crust called a salt bridge, or it turns into thick sludge called mushing. In both cases, the tank can look full, but the softener cannot pull salt correctly. If hard water signs show up even when the tank looks full, this is a common reason.

Fehl Safe’s salt delivery service includes

  • Salt delivered and loaded into the brine tank — salt included in the plan price
  • Chlorine delivered and refilled in the solution tank, as needed (Gold and Premium plans)
  • Brine tank check for salt bridges and mushing that stop the softener from drawing brine
  • Settings and regeneration check to confirm the softener is cycling as it should
  • Equipment inspection — the extent depends on your plan
  • Answers to your questions about how the system is running

You don’t need to be home, as long as we can reach the equipment.

Why regular delivery service matters

A softener out of salt stops softening. The resin inside removes calcium and magnesium, and salt is what recharges it. When the brine tank runs dry, hard water goes straight through to your pipes, fixtures, and water heater.

Most people find out late. By the time spots on the glasses and scale on the shower door come back, the system has been running without salt for a while.

A full-looking tank can still be empty. A salt bridge — a hard crust across the tank — can sit over an empty space. Mushing turns the bottom into sludge. Both stop the softener from drawing brine even though you can see salt. We check for both every visit.

A chlorinator out of chlorine stops disinfecting. On a well, that’s the system protecting your household from bacteria. See chlorination systems.

Small problems get caught early. A technician looking at your equipment every month spots a failing valve, a clogged filter, or a wrong setting long before it becomes a repair bill.

Is your home’s water softener running low?

Between visits, or if you don’t have a plan yet, these are the signs:

  • White spots on dishes and glassware again
  • Soap scum and a hazy shower door that’s harder to rinse clean
  • Dry skin, flat hair, and stiff laundry
  • Scale coming back on faucets and showerheads
  • Mostly water in the brine tank with little salt left
  • Hard water symptoms with a tank that looks full — usually a salt bridge

Don’t have a softener yet?

Salt delivery is for systems already in place. If you’re dealing with hard water, iron, or sulfur and don’t have treatment equipment, start with a free water test. Then see:

Frequently asked questions

How much does salt delivery cost? Monthly plans start at $75 with salt included. Gold ($120) adds chlorine and a full equipment inspection; Premium ($145) adds two free service calls a year, a 15% repair discount, and priority support.

Is the salt included in the price? Yes. Salt is included in every plan, and chlorine is included in Gold and Premium.

Do I need to be home? No, as long as we can get to the equipment.

Is there a contract? The Basic plan has no long-term contract. See the monthly maintenance page for the terms of each plan.

How often should a softener’s salt be checked? About once a month. Keep the tank at least a quarter full and don’t let it run empty.

What’s a salt bridge? A hard crust that forms across the brine tank and leaves an empty space underneath. The tank looks full, but the softener can’t draw brine. Breaking it up fixes it.

Do you service softeners you didn’t install? Tell us the make and model when you call and we’ll confirm.

Do you deliver to businesses? Yes. Commercial softeners and treatment equipment can be put on the same monthly schedule.

What if something’s wrong with my system? We’ll tell you what we found and quote the repair. Nothing is done without your approval, and your plan discount applies.

Stop hauling your own salt and chemicals. Fehl Safe can take of it all, every month

Yes, softened water can add some sodium, and the amount depends on your water hardness. Many people drink it without issues, but if you are on a low-sodium diet, use an unsoftened cold tap for drinking or add reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink.
