Well Drilling

Well Drilling Services: Your Reliable Source for Safe Water

A private water well is an investment in your home’s independence and the health of your family. At Fehl Safe Water Systems, we don’t just drill a hole in the ground—we engineer a complete, secure water source tailored to your property, ensuring you receive clean, consistent, and dependable water for decades to come.

Our drilling process prioritizes safety and compliance at every stage, giving you complete peace of mind.

The Fehl Safe Well Drilling Process: From Site to System

Drilling a successful, high-yield water well requires technical expertise, specialized equipment, and adherence to strict safety standards. Here is the step-by-step process we follow to bring safe water to your property:

Step 1: Expert Site Assessment and Permitting

Before the drill rig even arrives, proper planning is essential for a safe well.

  • Geological Survey: We evaluate your property’s underlying geology, water table depth, and local well history to pinpoint the optimal drilling location for reliable water yield.

  • Contamination Prevention: We meticulously choose a site that is safely distant and strategically situated away from potential sources of contamination, such as septic systems, drain fields, or property lines.

  • Regulatory Compliance: We handle all necessary permits and paperwork with state and local authorities, ensuring your new well meets every construction and safety regulation before drilling begins.

Step 2: Drilling the Borehole and Installing Casing

We use advanced drilling methods, such as air rotary or mud rotary, that are best suited for your specific ground conditions (rock or soil).

  • Borehole Creation: Our powerful, modern drilling equipment penetrates the earth until we reach a clean, reliable aquifer (water-bearing layer).

  • Casing Installation: As we drill, we install durable well casing (heavy-duty steel or PVC pipe). This lining serves two critical functions:

    1. It prevents the borehole walls from collapsing.

    2. It is the primary barrier that prevents shallow surface water and contaminants from mixing with your deep, safe groundwater supply.

Step 3: Grouting and Well Development

Once the casing is in place, we complete the well’s crucial protection mechanisms.

  • Sanitary Grouting: We pump a specialized sealing material (grout) into the annular space—the gap between the casing and the surrounding borehole wall. This step creates a permanent, watertight seal from the surface down, locking out contaminants and safeguarding the well’s integrity.

  • Well Development: We use air and water to flush out fine particles, sand, and drilling debris from the aquifer. This cleaning process maximizes the well’s flow rate (Gallons Per Minute or GPM) and ensures long-term efficiency.

Step 4: Pump System Installation and Final Testing

The drilling is complete, but the system is not yet fully functional. This is where we install the mechanical heart of your water supply.

  • Pump Selection & Installation: Based on your well’s depth and your household’s water needs, we install a high-efficiency submersible pump (placed inside the well) or a jet pump (for shallower applications). We also install the pressure tank and control components necessary for smooth water delivery.

  • The Pitless Adapter: We connect the water line to your home below the frost line using a pitless adapter, ensuring a sanitary, frost-proof connection between the well and your plumbing system.

  • Chlorination & Final Water Quality Testing: The system is thoroughly chlorinated and sanitized to eliminate any bacteria introduced during construction. Once flushed, we take a final water sample and send it to a certified lab for quality testing. We confirm the water is safe, clean, and ready for consumption before we finalize the project.
